An ongoing documentary following José Obscura and the La Maquila Erótica project — a contemporary erotic art initiative spanning live installation, handcrafted sculpture, and community programming that challenges how sexuality is discussed in public space.
The Challenge
José Obscura's work exists at the intersection of art, activism, and community — a world that is inherently visual, visceral, and difficult to capture without either sanitizing it or sensationalizing it. The documentary needed to follow a multi-year creative process with no fixed endpoint, across exhibitions, workshops, and the intimate process of making.
The Solution
Built a long-form documentary production around José Obscura's practice — capturing the full arc of the La Maquila Erótica project from studio process to live installation. The approach is observational and close, letting the work and the artist speak without editorial distance.
